SPOKANE, Wash.— The week of April 12-19 is Spokane Gives Week, a celebration of volunteerism backed by the city, United Way and a collection of sponsors and community service organizations.  Spokane Gives is a weeklong effort to kick off the notion of volunteerism all throughout the year.

CONNECT: Volunteer with Spokane Gives Week

The Northeast Youth Center is just one location that needs help during Spokane Gives Week. Dozens of kids go there every day to learn and have fun before and after school. However, the small staff can barely keep up with them and keep their rooms clean. Northeast Youth Center leaders said they are looking for volunteers to spend a half day getting this place organized.

“Just the funding that it would take us to get these projects done is huge and they're not getting done because there's not the funding available," said Kate Green with the Northeast Youth Center.

Volunteers can sign up online to take of the Youth Center project or a variety of others on the Spokane Gives website.
