SPOKANE, Wash. -- A community came together to grant 19 wishes. Local churches pitched in to get the kids living at Morning Star Boy’s Ranch ready for school Sunday.
Hundreds of volunteers from Mormon churches across the state helped fill each underprivileged child’s back-to-school wish list. The 19 boys received a brand new backpack, a new outfit for the first day of school, and a ‘special’ item bought just for them.
The volunteers said they wanted the boys to be able to go to school feeling confident.
“We just felt like that would be something that would make them feel good,” said church member Beth Hansen, “and it’s made us feel really good in the process.”
The director of Morning Star said he was grateful and impressed with how the community came together to help kids who have so little.
