NEW YORK (AP) — Halle Berry tops the television ratings, a spot befitting an Academy Award winner. It's too early to call her new CBS drama "Extant" a hit, though.
The Nielsen Company said Tuesday that "Extant" had 9.6 million viewers for its first episode last week. Berry stars as an astronaut who mysteriously returns from a solo space mission pregnant.
The numbers were enough to give Berry more viewers than anyone else in prime time last week. But neither "Extant" nor "Under the Dome" in its second summer season has captured the imagination quite like "Under the Dome" did last summer.
NBC's "Welcome to Sweden," a comedy starring Amy Poehler's brother Greg, had 3.5 million viewers for its debut last week.
