MEDICAL LAKE, Wash. -- The  Spokane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an overnight vandalism at the Lake Assembly of God in Medical Lake.

Pastor Dennis Noble said the crook or crooks caused  more than $50,000 of damage.

The crime occurred sometime between the hours of 9:00 p.m. Saturday and 6:00 a.m. Sunday.

The suspect destroyed several computers, kicked in doors, broke windows, and wrote messages like “die” inside the church.

Noble said deputies are investigating the vandalism as a hate crime, because the goal of the suspect or suspects was to “destroy as many things as possible”. Very few items were actually stolen from the church.

Members of the church started arriving to help clean up Sunday afternoon.

Noble said deputies were able to recover shoe and finger prints from the church. He said the suspect  also took a break from the vandalism to eat a meal from the church’s kitchen.
