COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -- A N. Idaho man will spend at least the next two years in prison for his fifth DUI.
A judge sentenced David Everett Meeks Jr. of Coeur d'Alene to ten years in state prison for felony driving under the influence. The first two years of the sentence are fixed, and the remaining eight years are indeterminate with credit for time served.
Meeks pleaded guilty to driving under the influence in the area of Pleasant View Road near the Spokane River on Sept. 18, 2012. A witness called 911 reporting Meeks was weaving all over the road, and had almost struck another vehicle.
In handing down the sentence, District Judge John Mitchell encouraged the Parole Commission to not release Meeks until he has successfully completed all appropriate rehabilitation programs.
