SPOKANE, Wash.--Registration ends May 10th at midnight for the Navy SEAL Fitness Challenge at Eastern Washington University. It is the first step to get into the elite group of the military.
Only 350 can complete in the challenge and this year Miss Spokane is one of them. She signed up to take the challenged on Saturday, May 18th at 9:30 a.m. Participants will take the challenge at the EWU Jim Thorpe Sports Complex in Cheney,
The challenge includes:
Six pull-ups without letting go of the bar
50 sit-ups in two minutes
42 push-ups in two minutes
1.5 mile run
500 yard swim
This is the first time the challenge has been brought to Spokane County which is inspiring Miss Spokane to take part.
“If I can do it, you can too, and I want to be able to encourage others, especially with my unique opportunity because I am disabled," said Miss Spokane Hannah Cvancara.
Miss Spokane has a prosthetic leg. She said she is not sure how well she will do but she still wants to take on the challenge. Cvancara said it is part of her Miss Spokane platform to support the Wounded Warrior Project.
“We don't take into account all these people have done to sacrifice life and limb for us,” added Cvancara.
She said that she feels close to the group growing up in a military family and having her own disability.
Participants must be at least 13 years old. The Navy SEAL Fitness Challenge is free. Click here to sign up.
