SPOKANE COUNTY -- Spokane County Marine Patrol units handed out tickets and warnings to people without lifejackets on the Spokane River Sunday.

Marine deputies patrolled all over the county.  They issued $84 tickets to swimmers and floaters not wearing life jackets, or who did not have one immediately accessible as required by law.

11 people have drowned in the Spokane River this summer.
