CHENEY, Wash. -- A Cheney, Washington couple is shaken up after someone robbed them at gunpoint early Saturday morning. It happened on the south side of town around 2:30 a.m.
The couple said it was a scary ordeal. Bill Bernstein and his husband, Tony, were walking their dog. At least three men approached them and demanded cash. They turned over all of their money, which was $300, and medication. The couple said the money was going towards their honeymoon and the electricity bill.
But the ordeal did not stop there. One of the men pulled out a pistol and pointed it point-blank at Tony.
"I thought it was lights out," remembered Bill. "That's why I stepped in front of Tony. I don't know what I would do without the love of my life."
The thieves eventually ran. Bill and Tony chased after them. That is when they said the crooks shot back. Nobody was hit. Cheney Police eventually caught three suspects.
