SPOKANE, Wash. -- Spokane Co. deputies surrounded a home on the lower South Hill for hours in an attempt to captured an escaped Geiger inmate.
The incident started around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 800 block of Adams.
Police say they were tipped off to information that 38-year-old Charles B. Fife may have assisted Michael Wheeler in his escape.
Fife allegedly barricaded himself in a home there as officers waited outside. He finally surrendered along with another man and two women. Police searched the residence but did not find anyone else.
Fife was booked into the Spokane Co. Jail for rendering criminal assistance, obstructing a peace officer and for a department of corrections hold. The three others were released.
Spokane Co. Sheriff’s Office investigators, the Pacific Northwest Violent Offenders Task Force and members from several additional law enforcement agencies continue the search for Michael Wheeler.
Wheeler has been missing since Jan. 27. He’s described as a 38-year-old white male, 5-foot-8, 170 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes. He was in custody for several charges including attempting to elude, possession of a stolen vehicle, assault of a health service provider, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property, residential burglary and theft charges.
