SPOKANE COUNTY -- Spokane County said its records department has been overwhelmed by applications for Concealed Pistol Licenses (CPL’s) since the Newtown Shooting on Dec. 14, 2012.
County officials said the number of applicants jumped to three or four times the amount per day compared to numbers prior to Dec. 14.
CPL applicants will have a wait time ranging from two to three hours.
People can print off and complete an online application, but they need to submit the application in person at the Public safety Building at 1100 W. Mallon in Spokane.
A background check and fingerprints are also required.
County officials said if there are too many applicants to finish processing by 4:00 p.m., no additional applications will be accepted after 1:30 p.m.
