COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho -- A wanted fugitive caught following a Coeur d’Alene pursuit appeared in court on Thursday. Kootenai County Sheriff’s deputies described Patrick S. Dalton as a wanted criminal and a white supremacist.

Authorities caught and arrested the 30-year-old on Wednesday afternoon when he lost control of his vehicle near Northwest Blvd. and W. Hubbard Ave.

A judge set Dalton’s bond at $500,000 during his Thursday hearing.

Authorities took three people into custody when their pursuit with Dalton ended the day before. The pursuit started just after 3:30 p.m. in the area of Highway 95 and W. Canfield Ave. in the northern end of Coeur d’Alene when authorities attempted to stop a vehicle with a wanted fugitive inside.

The driver did not stop, triggering a chase that circled itself briefly then travelled southbound on N. 4th Street through Dalton Gardens and back into the city of Coeur d'Alene.

Police said the driver, Dalton, drove recklessly in an effort to get away.

Before reaching the downtown area, the pursuit turned west to Northwest Boulevard.
Officers said Dalton lost control of the vehicle at the intersection of Northwest Blvd. and W. Hubbard Ave., and crashed into a center median, high centering his vehicle on some center median landscaping.

After the crash, police said Dalton ran off, and officers ran after him.

Dalton was taken into custody after a Kootenai County Sheriff's Office K9 unit located him. Police said they searched the immediate area and found that Dalton tried to get rid of about 4 ounces of drugs believed to be methamphetamine.

Medics treated Dalton at the scene as a result of his contact with the K9 unit. He was taken to Kootenai health for follow up treatment.

In addition to two felony warrants, Dalton was charged with Felony Drug Trafficking, Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Felony Eluding.

Two passengers in the car driven by Dalton were also taken into custody on drug charges.
Nobody else was hurt.

Idaho State Police troopers are investigating the pursuit.
