Why officials will not identify the second suspect involved in Bo Kirk case

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho --- Deputies arrested two people in connection to the murder of Bo Kirk, a Post Falls man who disappeared on Oct. 22. His body was found Oct. 25 in the Hayden Creek area of the Coeur d'Alene National Forest.

David Hutto, 44, faces second degree murder charges and appeared in court Monday. Prosecutors argued Hutto attacked Kirk as a result of road rage and said the incident seemed random.

However, officials have not identified the second suspect who was arrested.

That is because the suspect is being held in federal custody. The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office could not say where they are being held, but confirmed they are not in Kootenai County Jail.

The U.S. Attorney handling the case said they do not comment on federal investigations and there was nothing she could release as of Monday.

She said the name of the second suspect likely won’t be released until next week.

When KREM 2 spoke with her over the phone, she said there are a lot of moving pieces in this case and could not say when this second suspect would be in court.

The US Attorney would not even confirm whether the person arrested was a man or a woman.

Still no word on how they found the second suspect, what the charges are or the circumstances surrounding his arrest.
