Man arrested for assault after concerned mom called police

SPOKANE, Wash --- Spokane Police Department arrested a suspect for felony assault Thursday morning, after receiving a call from a concerned mother.

Around six a.m. Thursday, Spokane Police Dispatch received a call from a concerned mother about her daughter’s welfare, said SPD.

The daughter had texted her mother and said a male had assaulted her and had a large knife in her apartment, said SPD.

Officers responded to the daughter’s residence at 424 West Seventh Avenue and located the daughter who had escaped the apartment.

Officers were told the suspect was still inside the apartment and was refusing to exit.

SWAT units were dispatched and entered the apartment, along with patrol units. They were able to take the suspect into custody, said SPD.

Thirty one-year-old, Fabian Gonzalez, was taken into custody and booked into Spokane County jail for second degree assault (domestic violence related) and outstanding warrants.
