Idaho man arrested for alleged sexual exploitation of children

MOSCOW, Idaho – Multiple law enforcement agencies teamed up to arrest an Idaho man Wednesday suspected of sexually exploiting children.

Jeffery E. Hannon, 51, was taken into custody on July 12 and booked into the Latah County Jail. He was charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a child and two counts of enticing a child via the internet according to court documents. The investigation against Hannon began in November of last year.

Detective Daljit Gill of the Seattle Police Department began an undercover operation where Hannon indicated he wanted to have sex with underage children. Det. Gill said in an affidavit she had been posing as a mother of a 12 year old girl and a 5 year old girl. She had offered both of them for sex on the Internet to interested parties. During their conversations, Hannon had sent photos of himself nude and requested nude photos of the underage girls according to Gill. Hannon also told Gill that he regularly viewed child pornography websites. Hannon had also reached out to an undercover investigator in Mesa, Arizona, who was posing as a 14-year-old girl.

In June of 2017, law enforcement said in an affidavit they were able to retrieve an address from a local computer system, leading them to believe Hannon lived in Moscow, Idaho. Detectives and officers from the Moscow Police Department, members of the Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children task force, the U.S. Marshall’s Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Pullman Police Department and the Latah County Prosecutor’s Office all assisted in arresting Hannon.
