YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) -- Police say a Yakima officer and a suspect were both injured when a gun fired as they were struggling.
The officer suffered a wound to his left knee and the suspect was wounded on the right hip. Both wounds were minor and the men were treated at a hospital.
It happened Sunday night when the officer heard a shot and saw the suspect run. The officer caught the man in a yard, and the shot fired during the struggle.
Police say the officer did not fire his gun. A gun was found next to the suspect, who is a felon. The gun had been stolen in a burglary.
The suspect is jailed for investigation of attempted murder, being felon in possession of a gun and possessing a stolen gun.
