SANDPOINT, Idaho -- A northern Idaho driver is accused of fleeing the scene of a fatal collision with a Post Falls man after he was thrown from his motorcycle during a crash on state highway 200.

Court records show a preliminary hearing for 28-year-old Brianna L. Knapp was scheduled for Wednesday but continued until Sept. 5.

The Bonner County Daily Bee reports Knapp faces a felony and is accused leaving the scene of an accident resulting in the death of 47-year-old Kurt Henson, an off-duty police officer in Spokane, Wash.

Authorities say Henson was thrown from his Harley-Davidson when he hit an abrupt edge in a construction zone and then struck by Knapp, who was following the motorcycle. Henson died at the scene.

Police say Knapp fled but later turned herself in.
