AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. -- Two female inmates are back in jail after escaping from Geiger Corrections Center Tuesday night.

Police say the two were located between 1 and 1 1/2 hours.  They say the manhunt involved officers from the correction’s center, Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, Spokane Police Department, Washington State Patrol, Spokane airport Police and Airway Heights Police Department.

Police say Kathleen Stockton, 49, and Rachel Banks, 25, escaped around 7 p.m. by kicking out a window and climbing the center’s security fence.  Officials say the two women went to the Airway Express Trailer Park and knocked on a random door. The women did not go to a hotel as police initially said. They say one of the women had a bloody face and hands from scaling the fence. The man living there shooed them away and called police.

Officials say Banks and Stockton was arrested within two hours of escaping. Police say 43-year-old Troy Scheiber and 46-year-old Judith Scheiber tried to help the women escape.  Deputies believe Troy and Judith provided clothing and planned to give the women a ride out of the area.  Troy and Judith were arrested and booked into Spokane County Jail for Rendering Criminal Assistance.

Police say Stockton was currently being held on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance.  They say Banks was arrested earlier this month on counts of residential burglary and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Officials say both women were injured while trying to escape.  They say the women used a blanket as a shield when they climbed razor wire atop the outside security fence at Geiger Corrections.  They say Banks suffered numerous puncture wounds and lacerations and broke her ankle.  Stockton suffered numerous cuts and punctures as well.  Police say both women were taken to a downtown hospital for treatment before being booked back into the primary jail in downtown Spokane.

Police say Banks and Stockton now face additional charges of 1st degree escape and the incident remains under investigation.
