SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. -- A teenager who stayed home from school on Wednesday got a startling surprise when two people broke into his house.

Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies said that a man and woman snuck into the house along the 7500 block of East Bigelow Gulch Road.

A 14-year-old boy told authorities that he heard noise coming from down the hall around 10 a.m. He walked into his parent’s bedroom and found two strangers inside the room.

The victim told investigators that both people ran past him and out of the house. The victim described the suspects as a white male and female between 18 and 30-years-old.  He said they fled the scene in what he described as an aluminum or silver Dodge style van.

A neighbor spotted the van too. The neighbor described seeing four people in the van, two men and two women. He also said that the women asked him for gasoline. The neighbor told them no and watched as they walked up the victim's driveway according to deputies. He watched the women emerge from the victim's shop carrying a gas can.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects. The group could face burglary charges. Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-800-222-TIPS.
