SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -- A man tied up a Spokane Valley bar employee while he took alcohol and money from the business, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies say he threatened the woman with a gun and restrained her with zip ties inside of Poppy’s Tavern at 415 South Dishman Mica Road around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

“It just blows me away because we’ve not had that problem here,” neighbor Wilma Searing said.
Neighbors living a block away couldn’t believe this kind of robbery would happen so close to their home. They say they’ve never known anything like this to happen near their homes.

The suspect managed to escape with cash and beer. Police used a K-9 to track him but were unsuccessful.

Police say the man had been in Poppy’s the day before, as well. He’s described as a white man between 35 and 40. Police say he’s skinny and was wearing a Fishy Derby hat and blue jeans.
The woman is okay. Even still, neighbors say it will change their daily routines.

“You’ll go for a walk. I’ll just leave my door unlocked but I will not be doing that anymore,” Searing said.

Anyone with information should call Crime Check at 456-2233.
