COEUR D’ALENE -- The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office identified 19-year-old Christian Nicholas Buquet of Hayden, ID as the suspect in Saturday’s shooting in Coeur d’Alene.
Buquet, also known as Christopher Mallon, was shot and killed by officers following a high speed chase through town.
Deputies said Mallon was driving along East Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive when he took a turn too fast and spun out. Authorities said Mallon got out of the car and began firing at officers who returned fire.
Police say Buquet shot 29-year-old Frank James near 11th & Lakeside, triggering the high speed chase.
No officers were hurt.
Buquet had one previous arrest as an adult for Attempted Robbery in 2011.
