SPOKANE, Wash. -- A masked man robbed a Browne’s Addition convenience store at knifepoint Friday, which has become an unfortunate trend for the shop.

Surveillance video captured the entire holdup at Sunset Food Mart in the 2600 block of West Sunset Boulevard.

Store owner Aditi Sood rarely works the counter but filled in a bit Friday afternoon. She says a man wearing a bandana rushed into the shop as she was helping another customer.

“He said give me all the money. I have a knife. I can kill you,” Sood recounted.

Sood’s husband and another employee were standing nearby and one of them jumped in to open the register. Surveillance video shows the man then reach into the register and grab the cash. He took off on foot down Sunset Boulevard.

Sood was frightened to have a knife pointed to her face but says the robber didn’t seem quite sure of himself.

“He was equally scared. His hands were shaking. He just ran outside, and since it’s raining, he slipped really badly on the ground. Then, all of a sudden he runs away.”

This is the second time Sunset Food Mart has been robbed since December. Sood calls it frustrating, but the store does have measures in place to protect employees and customers.

“We always keep pepper spray and other weapons around. And of course, if the employee has a weapons permit, he’s free to carry weapons with him anytime.”

No one was hurt in this robbery, but the suspect is at large. Anyone with information on the man pictured above should call Crime Check.
