SPOKANE, Wash. -- A stolen car crashed into the Empire Office Furniture store in Spokane Thursday night.
The business is located near the intersection of Monroe and Sinto.
The stolen Dodge Durango was traveling westbound on Sinto around 10:30 p.m. when the driver saw a police car, and allegedly took off at a high speed and ran a stop sign at Monroe. The stolen SUV hit a Subaru, spun out and hit the building.
The Subaru driver suffered minor injuries but is going to be okay.
The driver of the Durango, 30-year-old Craig Beal, was arrested. He was taken to the hospital after the crash, but he did not have any injuries.
Police say Beal stole the Durango in Spokane Valley earlier in the day.
This was not Beal’s first offense. He is a convicted felon, charged with stealing vehicles, identity theft, possession of stolen property and burglary. His crime history dates back to 13 years ago. Beal will face a laundry list of charges after this incident, including possession of stolen motor vehicle, attempt to elude, first-degree malicious mischief, hit-and-run, driving with a suspended license and DUI for drugs.
