SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office announced that a task force formed to prevent vehicle prowlings and garage burglaries in Spokane Valley has been a big success.

Four patrolmen and two detectives from the Spokane Valley Property Crimes Unit started arresting more than more than 20 suspects in November after seeing a huge increase in vehicle prowlings and garage burglaries in the eastern part of Spokane Valley.

Garage burglaries in that area usually average 12.7 per month but in October jumped to 30.

Car prowlings usually average 17.3 per month but jumped to an average of 44.3 from August to October.

According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, in one search warrant alone over 57 items of stolen property were recovered from one target address during the task force crackdown.  More than 10 garage burglaries were solved in that instance.  Detectives have posted pictures of stolen property recovered from the residence on the Sheriff's Office Facebook page and Spokane Valley Police Department's website in hopes of identifying more victims.

The Sheriff's Office wants people to keep reporting on suspicious activity so they can make more arrests in these cases.
