Drug pipe found during Wellesley pipe bomb investigation

SPOKANE, Wash. - Police investigated a report of a possible pipe bomb Tuesday in North Spokane. A pipe discovered in an alley near 100 block of E. Wellesley forced police to evacuate neighbors.

Officers later confirmed that the pipe was actually marijuana drug paraphernalia.

The call came into police around 11 a.m. Officers said that someone walking in an alley found what appeared to be a pipe bomb leaning up against a building. Police described the pipe as a black PVC tube with end caps.

Officers called in the bomb disposal unit to investigate. Bomb technicians then set off a charge to destroy the pipe. While on scene, a KREM 2 photographer heard crews a boom.


Police collected the pieces of the pipe and took the pieces for further inspection.
