SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -- Deputies from the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office are searching for a woman they believe stole multiple items from Payless Shoes on E. Sprague Ave Wednesday.

The employee told deputies that a white female, in her early 20s, entered the store with a large leopard print bag. She said she was concerned with the woman’s motives as she realized the bag may be used to conceal stolen items.

Deputies said the employee heard the front door chime and walked out to see the suspect leaving the store with one of the store’s purses. The employee said the suspect’s leopard print hand bag was filled with shoes.

The employee went after the suspect and told her to return the merchandise or she would call police. The suspect told the employee that she had a gun. The victim did not see the gun but went back into the store to call police.

The victim said the suspect drove in front of the store and waved and smiled as she passed by.

Authorities said the suspect was about 5’4”, with a light build and blonde hair.
Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for anyone with information leading to an arrest. People with information should call the tip line at 1-800-222-TIPS or forward the tip online at www.crimestopperinlandnorthwest.org.
