SPOKANE-- Officials have identified the shooter in Monday's attempted murder, suicide.
It happened on East 5th around noon on Spokane's lower South Hill.
Spokane Police responded to a report of shots fired just after noon today in the area of 3100 East 5th Avenue.
Officers arrived and found one man dead in the front yard of an apartment. A female was still inside the apartment with a gunshot wound to the head.
The female was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is currently in stable condition.
Authorities say the female was conscious and talking when they found her on the second floor. She was able to name the shooter who was later identified as her boy friend. The two recently broke up.
The Medical Examiners Office identified the shooter as 28 year old Veniamin Gorkovchenko.
Investigators believe Gorkovchenko suffered a self inflicted gun shot wound to the head.
