SPOKANE COUNTY -- Bail has been set for a man charged with his son’s death.
It happened around 4:30 a.m. Sunday at a home in the 4000 block on North Garfield.
Mark A. Cavazos, 52, called police himself after allegeldy shooting his son. Police say the victim, 31-year-old James Cavazos, was already dead when they arrived.
Cavazos faces second-degree murder charges in the case. Prosecutors asked bond to be set at half-a-million dollars, but the judge said he is not a threat to the community. Bail is set for $100,000. He’s scheduled to return to court Jan. 22.
Deputies say alcohol was likely a factor is this case.
Investigators spent several hours at the home reconstructing the crime scene. Authorities say witnesses were cooperative.
