KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho -- The Kootenai County Sheriff says a 3-year-old girl was injured in a crash January 27 when her father hit a tree near the City of Hayden Lake.
On Tuesday, the Kootenai County Sheriff charged Timothy Freund with felony injury to a child, aggravated DUI and felony DUI. His bond has been set at $50,000.
The Sheriff's office says Freund hit a tree at the intersection of Avondale Loop and Miles Avenue on January. When officers arrived on the scene Freund was holding his daughter in his arms. Freund initially refused medical assistance for the both of them
The girl was later taken to the hospital with a possible head injury. Freund was transported to the Kootenai County Jail, but then complained of other injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. They drew his blood to determine his level of intoxication.
Freund's Blood Alcohol Content was .32, which is four times the legal limit. An investigation determined the cause of the collision was a direct result of Freund's impairment.
Both Freund and his daughter were released from the hospital.
Freund's criminal history includes two prior arrests in 2009 for DUI and leaving the scene of a crash, a 2007 arrest for boating under the influence and a 2007 arrest for DUI.
