MOSES LAKE, Wash. -- New community support has helped drop property crime in Grant County. Some specific thefts are down by more than 50% compared to last year.
From burglary attempts to basic property theft, the numbers are trending down significantly. Neighbors told KREM it's due to people simply watching out for each other.
"(I feel) safe," said Montana Gale. "The community actually works together. Back each other up."
Deputies said this drop is the result of more tips from the community. The Sheriff has recently started holding meetings in various towns in Grant County. He focuses on getting to know the people, and encouraging them to let deputies know about any suspicious activity.
The meetings are held in a different spot, once a month.
