SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Police are investigating a body found in East Central Spokane around 4:30 a.m. Friday.
Police told KREM 2 News that a neighbor out for a morning walk found the body on a sidewalk near Pacific and 1st in an area between Interstate 90 and the train tracks.
The neighbor at first thought the body was a backpack. Upon discovering it was a person the neighbor thought the victim was sleeping. When the neighbor found the victim unresponsive he attempted to revive the victim with no success.
Paramedics that showed up to the scene also tried for about an hour to revive the man, according to the neighbor.
Police said the body is a white male in his 30’s and there were no obvious signs of trauma to the body.
Police are treating the case as a suspicious death, not a homicide. A detective tells KREM 2 they suspect the man died of a drug overdose. Police said they are checking to see if a known drug house in the area may have any involvement in the death.
Police have blocked off a half block in the area to traffic and expect to be on the scene for several hours this morning.
The Medical Examiner will also be on scene this morning to investigate how the man died.
