PULLMAN, Wash. -- The Pullman Police have received several reports of checks and/or money being stolen from unlocked mailboxes over the past week.
The department recommends residents who have mailed a check or money from an unsecured residential mailbox within the past two weeks to contact the intended recipients to make sure it was received.
In some cases checks placed in these types of mailboxes that were being mailed to a third party have been stolen, altered and cashed.
Also, check with your bank to make sure checks posted for the correct amount written.
When you mail checks or money, use mail receptacles or go directly to the post office.
If you believe you were a victim of this type of crime, you are asked to report it to the Pullman Police at (509)-332-2521.
