NEAR FORD, Wash. -- Washington State Patrol has identified a possible suspect in a hit-and-run crash near Ford, Wash.
A pedestrian was killed in the collision about 10 miles north of Ford along Highway 231 Tuesday night.
WSP says Evonna Hyde, 20, was hit when she was walking with a flashlight to a friend's house. Investigators do not know if she was crossing the road, or walking along side the highway at the time she was struck.
Investigators are looking for a green vehicle, possibly a SUV or a truck, based on parts of the vehicle that were left behind.
Investigators believe the driver might not have known a person was hit. Troopers say the stretch of highway from Ford to Springdale has a high amount of animal collisions. Even so, they are treating the case as a felony hit-and-run. WSP said Thursday they identified a possible suspect but could not release any other details.
The stretch of road was closed for several hours during the investigation.
