SPOKANE, Wash. -- A man stabbed 19 times in northeast Spokane should survive, according to police.
It happened near Dalton and Lidgerwood around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Investigators say the man went to a Walgreens to buy a soda when another man attacked him. He suffered stab wounds to the back and neck.
The man managed to walk to a friend’s house near Dalton and Mayfair. Friends and neighbors say they tried to help the man as they waited for paramedics. They say he was covered in blood.
“I pulled up his shirt. That’s when you could see the deep stab wounds,” friend Carney Bera said.
Police tried to find a suspected with a K-9 unit, but they were unable to locate anyone. It is unknown if the victim knew the suspect or if this was a random attack.
Investigators said they plan to interview the victim in the hospital on Wednesday.
