SPOKANE-- Police believe a burglar targeted a widow by using an obituary. The suspect allegedly took her late husband’s wedding band.
On September 22nd 2012, Spokane Police Officers responded to a burglary that occurred on the 2800 Block of West Lyons. Items taken in this burglary included multiple firearms, antiques, as well as the victims’ deceased husband’s wedding ring.
Detectives believe the suspects possibly targeted the victim because of an online obituary, and then targeted her home when they believed that she would not be home.
On October 4th, police arrested convicted felon Joseph Travis Sizemore and located a stolen .22 caliber bullet, a .22 revolver, and methamphetamine.
Sizemore was arrested for Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Felon in Possession of a Firearm 2nd degree, Hit and Run attended with an injury, and Possession of a controlled Substance. Sizemore was held on $20,000 dollar bond.
On October 24th, Spokane Police Department Targeted Crimes Unit Detectives arrested Michael Sisneros, 28, after a follow-up investigation revealed that Sisneros had sold a .22 caliber gun to Sizemore. That gun was stolen in the burglary that occurred on West Lyons.
Sisneros was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Trafficking in Stolen Property 1st Degree.
Spokane Police are requesting the public’s assistance in tracking down the victim’s late husband’s wedding band and other stolen items (please see attached pictures).
