OKANOGAN, Wash. -- One man died and another was wounded in an officer-involved shooting in Okanogan County.

It happened at a home on East Dry Coulee Road just after 8 p.m. Thursday.

Police first responded to an assault call. Two women ran out of the house when they arrived and told officers a man and his son were inside and the son had a gun.

Authorities say moments later deputies heard shots fired inside the home. Then a special response team arrived and attempted to talk to the son. The negotiation didn't work and authorities tried to enter the home.

The son allegedly shot at deputies when they walked in the door. He was wounded when deputies returned fire. Medics took him to the hospital and flown to Spokane for more treatment.

Authorities found the suspect's father dead inside the home.

None of the officers were injured.

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation. The department has not released the names of anyone involved.
