SPOKANE, Wash. -- Police caught the man suspected of robbing a 7-Eleven store when the suspect returned to the crime scene.
Officers arrested Jerry R. Lamere on Tuesday at the 7-Eleven near Maple and Maxwell.
Police were already investigation the 4:40 a.m. robbery when they received a second call about the suspect. Clerks told police that Lamere returned to the store shortly after they had left. Officers responded and tracked down the 39-year-old suspect.
Police said that Lamere was still wearing the same clothing he had worn during the robbery.
Clerks told police that Lamere demanded beer from the cashier during the first robbery. The man left when the employee said no.
Officers say the suspect returned shortly after with what appeared to be a real gun and demanded cash. As the cashier handed over money, a witness outside the store saw what was happening and rushed inside. The witness began fighting with the suspect which forced him to drop the weapon, which turned out to be a toy gun. The suspect then fled the scene on foot.
