COEUR D’ALENE-- Detectives arrested a man Friday connected to the robbery of two Coeur d'Alene business in September
Police acted on a tip around 11:20 a.m. Friday and responded to the 700 block of N. 7th. Police contacted Brandy Thompson known to be the girlfriend of robbery suspect Christopher Hastings.
Thompson denied knowing Hastings real identity. While detectives were speaking to her they observed a male matching the description of Hastings step out of a bedroom in the residence. She told them that male’s name was Tim.
Detectives spoke to the male and he denied being Christopher Hastings. Detectives had photos of a tattoo that Hastings has on his arm. They were able to pull that photo from past booking photos of Hastings. They matched the photo with his arm and he finally confessed to being Hastings.
Detectives interviewed him further and he admitted to his role in the robberies at Walgreens and Tesoro that occurred on September 17th.
Hastings was taken into custody without incident and transported to the jail.
At 11:57 p.m. Monday, Coeur d’Alene Police officers responded to 2301 Sherman Ave, the Tesoro service station for a reported robbery.
The female clerk on duty reported that the male suspect had come into the store one time prior to the robbery. The first time was at approximately 11:35 pm. The clerk said he came up to the counter and asked about cigarettes. She told him the price and he said he would have to come back.
The suspect came back into the store at 11:47 pm and wandered around for a while according to police. As soon as other customers left the store he approached the counter area and lifted his shirt to her displaying a handgun tucked into his waistband. He demanded money and the clerk gave him an undisclosed amount of cash.
The male then fled the store on foot. He is described as a white male, 5’8 to 5’10, slender build, wearing a grey or white billed hat with a black hoodie pulled over it, and blue jeans. The male has two piercings on his upper lip.
Around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, Coeur d’Alene Police officers responded to 335 W. Appleway, Walgreens for the report of another robbery.
The female clerk on duty reported a man came into the store and was standing at the counter. The clerk came forward from another area in the store and went to the cash register. The male lifted his shirt and displayed a handgun in his waistband. He demanded money. The clerk was not able to give him money so the suspect took some cigarettes from the counter and fled the store on foot.

The description of the suspect was similar to that of the Tesoro robbery suspect. Police believe the two may be connected.
Officers reviewed surveillance video and it appeared he got into a dark colored vehicle that was waiting outside. The vehicle drove east through the parking lot and left the area.
Surveillance video from the robberies was provided to the police.
Two other suspects in the robberies have been identified by detectives. Charges for armed robbery are pending at the Prosecutors office on a 39 year- old female and a 28 year- old male, both of Coeur d’Alene. Their names will be provided once they are formally charged.
