SPOKANE-- KREM 2 showed you surveillance video a couple of days ago of thieves trying to steal a wiener dog from Northwest Seed and Pet Store.

Cameras captured a plan successfully executed by three people to steal a puppy dachshund the Sunday before last. One man handed a woman the dog, while another man used a blanket he was carrying around his neck to cover it. The woman carried the dog from the store like a baby, and the two men followed.

Employees were able to catch on fast enough to get the getaway car’s license plate number.

With surveillance and a vehicle ID, KREM 2’s Othello Richards asked police if they had any lead in the case. The police department says its case load is heavy, and sometimes cases come down to “solvability.” Cases with more evidence are more likely to get a coveted detective.

The department also has few officers who are injured and can be temporarily reassigned to investigate property crimes.

Anyone with information on any crime, or this case specifically, is encouraged to call Crime Check.
