SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- A woman accused of throwing her baby over a fence and 50 feet down an embankment in Spokane will undergo a mental examination.

The 25-year-old, Destiny Ahenakew, remained jailed with bail set at $50,000 after her first court appearance Monday.

The boy was not seriously injured Saturday. Court records say Ahenakew was homeless and had previously been treated for substance abuse. Three years ago she lost custody of a 4-year-old daughter.
