MOSES LAKE, Wash. -- Hundreds of people gathered in Moses Lake Wednesday night as the Sheriff’s Office addressed the growing problem of gang violence in Grant County.

Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones organized the town hall meeting in the wake of recent incidents, including a drive-by shooting that killed a 16-year-old boy Feb. 16. More than 300 people were in attendance Wednesday.

The Sheriff addressed what his department was doing to combat the violence. His plans included the creation of a seven-person gang unit using existing deputies reassigned from other duties. The new gang unit would be used throughout Grant County for gang-related incidents.
The Sheriff's Office also pledged to work continuously with all communities in the county to help stop gang violence.
