LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) -- The former manager of the now-closed Idaho County Food Bank who a prosecutor says stole $50,000 from the nonprofit charity faces four felonies.
Idaho County Prosecutor Kirk A. MacGregor tells the Lewiston Tribune that the case against 51-year-old Leta J. Akins was filed Wednesday.
A website managed by the Idaho State Judiciary shows an affidavit of probable cause was filed charging Akins with four felony counts of grand theft between May 2009 and August 2012.
Akins said that when the food bank closed it couldn't meet its operating expenses of about $1,000 a month.
Akins served on the food bank's five-member board of directors as its president and secretary, and managed the food bank part time.
