SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. -- A Spokane County judge sentenced a burglar on Friday for a long list of felonies. Thomas Clement, 40, pleaded guilty to seven felonies of Friday afternoon.
Detectives said they connected Clement to break-ins at the Lincoln Heights Shopping Center in March. Police added that Clement and two others allegedly burglarized several businesses on the South Hill, including Radio Shack, Hastings, and Gamestop.
Detectives said they also linked Clement to burglaries and car thefts at Spokane Community College. Clement entered a plea deal and when he gets out of prison he owes tens of thousands of dollars back to the alleged victims.
Clement told the judge he started using crystal meth six years prior. The judge allowed Clement to enter into a drug treatment program for offenders and sentenced him to 19 months in prison.
Clement must also pay more than $40,000 in restitution to the victims. The prosecutor said that without a plea deal a guilty verdict by a jury could have landed Clement in prison for more than four years.
