COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho.--A Coeur d’Alene woman will likely face serious charges after police said she caused two separate wrecks on Tuesday and fled one scene in someone else's vehicle.

She is accused of causing once accident and then taking off in the car of a good Samaritan before causing another crash along Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive.

Kara Powers will likely face several charges in the case.

Drugs or alcohol likely played a role according to investigators. This is not the first time Powers has been accused of driving impaired.

Powers was arrested for DUI and unlawful use and possession of prescription medication in March.

A witness from the night she was arrested said Powers was swerving on Interstate 90 and said she nearly side-swiped several cars, according to court documents.

A responding ISP Trooper at the time found several different kinds of medication in her purse at the time.

The DUI charge was later amended to inattentive driving. Powers pleaded guilty to that and a charge of possessing medication without a prescription. She spent four days in jail for that offense and was put on two years probation.

Powers allegedly violated that possession on Tuesday following the series of bizarre incidents.

Investigators said she caused an accident on Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive Tuesday morning. Another woman stopped to see if Powers was doing OK.

Powers allegedly stole the good Samaritan’s car with children still inside. The kids were able to get out OK.

Investigators said Powers then continued down the road and caused another crash.

Powers had to be transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center.
