Coeur d'Alene man sentenced to 25 years for 3rd felony

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -- A 38-year-old Coeur d'Alene man was sentenced to 25 years in jail for his third felony offense on Monday.

Kenneth Schleining was sentenced to 15 years for attempted strangulation plus 10 years because he is considered a habitual offender. District Judge Fred Gibler ordered Schleining  to serve the sentence as a fixed term.

Schleining admitted to the charge. Schleining was accused of choking his girlfriend until she was unconscious, while telling her he was going to kill her. The girlfriend was able to fight back and was able to get away from him.

Schleining has a lengthy criminal history. He was convicted of felony aggravated battery, unlawful sexual activity with a minor, and a no contact order violation.
