COEUR D’ALENE -- The Coeur d’Alene Police Department has seen a large increase in daytime residential burglaries in the past month.

Crime statistics show more than 70% of the burglaries have occurred during daylight hours. Auto burglaries were not included in that number.

Police said burglars are entering homes by kicking in doors, or climbing through doggie doors or windows.

Jewelry, coins, laptops, guns, and anything of value that is easy to carry are the most stolen items.

Any residents who would like to start a block watch group in their neighborhood can call (208) 769-2320.
