SPOKANE, Wash. -- Major Crimes detectives with the Spokane Police Department investigated a woman's death early Monday in Spokane.
Officers responded to the College Terrace Apartments on Fort George Wright Drive, just north of Spokane Falls Community College, around 4:30 a.m. to the report of a shooting.
Residents report hearing gunshots followed by a woman screaming. When authorities arrived, they found the woman dead outside of one of the rental units between the leasing office and resident mailboxes. Police say she was shot in the face.
Detectives treated the case as a homicide and said there is no chance the woman committed suicide. Their biggest obstacle now is just identifying her.
The victim is described as a white woman between 18-25. She's 5-foot-7.5-inches tall and weighs 154 pounds. She 18-inch-long brown hair and light brown eyes. Police say there are two distinctive tattoos located on her him and arm.
Investigators do not yet have information on a suspect, nor a motive.
Neighbors say the murder has shaken everyone living in the complex.
SFCC operated as normal Monday.
