SPOKANE--Someone set fire to a Northwest Spokane totem pole and now fire investigators are searching for the arsonists.

The totem pole has been a sight in Spokane for decades and now neighbors are wondering why someone would torch a piece of their history.

John Young has watched the paint fade on the totem pole over the years.  He donates buckets to the Boy Scouts when it needs a new coat.  Young calls the singed sculpture a “real shame.”

Megan Malloy says it’s a safe neighborhood and she doesn’t know why someone would do this.

The Spokane fire Department first responded to the totem pole on July 25th.  Less than three weeks later, the arsonists hit again.  Now investigators are on the hunt for who did it.

Right now there are no suspects.  The fire department is asking anyone who has any information on what happened or who’s responsible to call 344-FIRE.
