SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that happened Thursday night.
Authorities said the a woman was found in the trunk of her car by a Spokane Police officer in South Spokane. They said the woman appeared to be beaten.
Officials said the woman was wrapped in sheets and plastic.The woman had been reported missing on April 7.
An autopsy is underway. Detectives searched a storage unit on E. Montgomery in relation to the investigation. Court documents said detectives believe the murder happened in a garage near Montgomery and Hutchinson.
Officials said Edward Juan Sifuentez, 32, is in custody in connection to the woman's death. They said his nickname is 'Trouble.' He was booked at 10:15 Friday morning for 2nd Degree Murder. They said Sifuentez is the victim's daughter's boyfriend.
The victim's daughter, Racheal Colby, 29, was arrested and booked into jail for Rendering Criminal Assistance and Trafficking Stolen Property.
Court documents show the daughter of the victim told detectives he made her hide a baseball bat used in the murder in the storage shed.
Court records also show Sifuentez is claiming his girlfriend was the one who stabbed and hit the victim. Records also said Colby admitted to helping load her mother's body in her trunk.
Authorities said there is evidence Sifuentez and Colby used the victim's bank accounts after he was accused of killing her.
Neighbors said they are not surprised by the murder.
"There was a lot of domestic issues. A lot of late night traffic. We'd hear her screaming in the middle of the night. It was really hard," said neighbor LaDean Latham.
Detectives also combed through the area near the storage unit according to witnesses. They are still looking for sheets matching the set the victim was found in.
