SPOKANE, Wash.-- A Spokane couple got a rude awakening Wednesday morning after a suspect broke into their South Hill home.
It started just before 4 a.m. at the home on the corner of Cook and Hartson.
A male and female told police the suspect kicked in their front door and came upstairs into their bedroom with a gun. They said the male suspect was dressed in all black with a scarf around his face.
The couple started screaming at the suspect and police said the man took off on foot. The Spokane Police Department brought out a K9 unit to help track the man down.
While investigating, officers found a bullet that had dropped onto the stairs. They said it likely was dropped out of a gun. It had not been fired.
The K9 search left officers empty handed but officers continued to patrol the area for any sign of the suspect.
If neighbors spot anything suspicious, they are encouraged to contact authorities.
