GRANGEVILLE, Idaho - Police responded late Thursday to a report of an armed robbery at Deano’s Exxon at 712 W. Main Street. Two people were later arrested.
The clerk told police that a man entered the store around 9:25pm Thursday, showed the clerk a handgun and demanded money. The clerk gave the man the money from the cash drawer. The suspect reportedly took off immediately from the store. No one else other than the clerk was in the store at the time and no one was reported injured, according to Grangeville Police.
Witness reports and surveillance video suggested the robbery suspect was a white male in his 20’s. Investigators say the suspect left the store on foot, then got into a late 80’s or early 90’s maroon Toyota pickup, driven by a white female in her 20’s, and took off.
The investigation led Grangeville Police, with the help of the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office and the Kamiah Marshal’s Office, to locate and arrest both suspects in Kamiah Friday morning at 10:30am.
“We are grateful no one was injured in this incident,” said Grangeville Police Chief Morgan Drew. “The clerk did the right thing by turning over the money. No amount of money is worth putting yourself in danger of being killed or injured.”
